Introducing the Man Behind the Workshop
As you may have read on the home page, my name is Stephen Williams, and I am an independent Website designer. Ever since I was very young, I have been fascinated with computers and technology in general, and have been using computers for most of my life. Growing up, I was involved in many projects for friends, family, and work, such as word processing, spreadsheets, graphic design, photo editing and restoration, and even some basic HTML. I always felt like my best work was not so much in doing individual tasks, but when it came time to put them together in some way. In 2009 I graduated from Daymar College in Owensboro, Kentucky with an Associate's Degree of Science in Website Design, and also completed the requirements for a CIW v5 Associate certification.
Where did the name Swinc come from (it's pronounced [swink] like "swing" but ending with a k sound)? I have been using that as a nickname ever since a humorous occasion at college. One of our teachers would use students' names for imaginary business scenarios. One day I was the particular subject of just such a scenario, and when our instructor wrote my name on the board as a business, he put "SW Inc." I immediately picked up on the name and called out, "Swinc Inc.!" We all got a laugh out of that, and the name has stuck ever since. Swinc is still a nickname I use, and has also become the name I use in my business.
